we had dan phillps come today and speak with my “building systems” class. I knew what he did and I have been in his houses before (he builds houses from all recycled/reclaimed/gifted materials for low income families) and they are absolutely breath taking-ly imaginative and wonderful to look at. But, Dan stood up there and he said one line; he said, “stop living your lives for everyone else, live it for yourself” and i really got what he meant. Nowadays everyone builds or dresses or whatever, according to what someone elses expectation is, and we really do need to shift our focus back to living for us. I really enjoyed having him come, and i thank him for his presentations.
